The new factory is expected to produce seven million pieces of different garments like denim pants, twill pants, jackets and woven jackets and pants. The move will generate employment opportunities for around 1,450 people, according to reports in Bangladeshi media.
Ali Reza Mazid, Member (Investment Promotion) BEPZA and Md. Forhad Hossan, Managing Director of Texas Clothing, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. The Executive Chairman of BEPZA, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, was present on the occasion.
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Texas Clothing Limited have signed an agreement under which Texas will invest $8.5 million to set up a garment manufacturing plant in the Uttara Export Processing Zone ( UEPZ). Established in September 2001, UEPZ is located at Nilphamari of Rangpur Division in North Bengal of Bangladesh.
